Dr. Jeffrey Brackeen is a Lubbock native and a graduate of Lubbock High School. He attended Abilene Christian University earning a Bachelors of Science in Biology and a minor in chemistry & theology with magna cum laude honors. He received his medical degree from Texas A&M Health Sciences Center as an Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) honor society member. Dr. Brackeen completed an internship in Family Medicine in Waco, TX before serving in the Navy as a Flight surgeon. While in the military he served with both the Navy and the Marine Corps here in the US and overseas. He is proud to be a veteran and has received numerous awards and honors for his service.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he completed a 4-year residency training in pathology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and became board certified in both Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology. Dr. Brackeen worked as a pathologist for Ameripath at Covenant Medical Center, before returning to residency at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center for an additional 3 years of training before earning his board certification in Dermatology. He is proud to have been the Chief resident for his pathology, as well as, his dermatology residency programs.
Dr. Brackeen is a Mohs surgeon and has a passion for the fight against skin cancer. He is a strong advocate for skin cancer prevention and screening. He promotes sun safety in our community by hosting the annual "Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!" event, offering both AAD "On the Spot" skin Cancer screenings and ASDS skin cancer screenings, hosting "Heads Up" skin health events, participating in health fairs, and sponsoring sunscreen dispensers at community events. On a national level, he has served as a spokesman for the Melanoma Research Foundation and the Skin Cancer Foundation. He helps to provide skin cancer screenings for several professional sports organizations. He helps to promote skin cancer awareness and research as a committee member for the annual Skin Cancer Foundation Gala. He has been interviewed for and appeared on national news, XM radio, and publications including Women's Health, O, Vogue, Sun & Skin News, and the Skin Cancer Foundation Journal among others. He has been a speaker/presenter at national meetings such as the American Academy of Dermatology annual meeting, the Cosmetic Surgery Forum, the College of American Pathologists annual meeting, and the Pediatric Melanoma Summit.
Dr. Brackeen was the first in the US to offer red light Photodynamic therapy with the BF-RhodoLED, and the first in the US to treat precancers with Ameluz, and the first to bring the option of non-surgical superficial radiotherapy (SRT) for the treatment of skin cancers to west Texas. He serves on advisory boards for several skin cancer and dermatologic treatments as well as skin cancer laboratory and tissue tests.
Dr. Brackeen treats all skin issues and enjoys helping others find their way to healthier skin. Along with his wife Dr. Amy Brackeen, he also customizes products for the Skin Type Solution regimens offered at Advanced Dermatology to contain newest and preferred products.
When he is away from the office, Dr. Brackeen enjoys hiking, camping, and fishing. He raises cattle on a few acres outside of Post, Texas. Most of all, he loves spending time with his wife, Dr. Amy Brackeen, and his three children.

Dr. Amy Brackeen was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. She started college at 16 years old. She then graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. She received her Medical Degree from Texas A&M Health Sciences Center as an Alpha Omega Alpha honor society member. She completed an internship in Transitional Medicine at Tulane in New Orleans, LA while her husband Jeff Brackeen, M.D. was stationed there for the Navy. She then moved to Lubbock to complete a residency in dermatology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center and finished as the Chief-resident in dermatology. She is proud to represent Texas as a graduate from UT, A&M, AND Texas Tech but proudly has her "GUNS UP" for the Red Raiders!
She is a fellow of the American Society of Mohs Surgery and has completed thousands of excisions and Mohs surgeries. She is a strong advocate for skin cancer prevention and screening. She has successfully sponsored a school shade structure for a nearby school. Amy & Jeff Brackeen support skin cancer awareness and the community through the annual "Skin Cancer, Take a Hike!", the AAD "On the Spot" skin cancer screenings, ASDS skin cancer screenings, health fairs, and sponsoring sunscreen dispensers at community events. She enjoys skin cancer surgery and cosmetic dermatology including Botox & filler injections. She also customizes Skin Type Solution regimens offered at Advanced Dermatology. This allows Advanced Dermatology to offer new and preferred products to patients. (Proceeds from sales are donated to the Skin Cancer Foundation).
Dr. Amy Brackeen has authored peer-reviewed publications and has reviewed dermatology education material. Currently, she is on the board of the Texas Dermatological Society. She is also a member of many professional medical societies including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society of Mohs Surgery, Texas Medical Association, Texas Dermatological Society, & AOA.
Most importantly, Dr. Amy Brackeen is the proud mother of 3 beautiful children. She spends her free time with her family and traveling to her children's many gymnastic meets.
Clay Brackeen grew up in Lubbock, Texas and graduated from Lubbock High School. After finishing Abilene Christian University with a Bible/Missions degree, he served as a missionary in Varna, Bulgaria for 6 years. While in Bulgaria, he met and married his wife, Darina. Upon repatriating to the U.S., Clay taught special education for 10 years before returning to school to study nursing. He worked as an I.C.U. nurse at Covenant Hospital for 6 years before joining the Advanced Dermatology team in 2019 as a nurse practitioner. Clay is thrilled to be able to work with his brother and sister-in-law at Advanced Dermatology.
Clay received a bachelor's degree in Bible/Missions from Abilene Christian University and a master's degree in Biblical Studies from Asbury Theological Seminary. His nursing studies were at Covenant School of Nursing (RN) and Lubbock Christian University (BSN). Clay obtained his Nurse Practitioner master's degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. He is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANPCB) and is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Society of the Dermatology Nurses' Association.
Clay and Darina have two children, a son at Texas Tech University and a daughter at Lubbock High School. Clay enjoys spending time with family, worshipping with fellow Christians, traveling, and all things Bulgarian. He is an Eagle Scout who loves hiking and camping and is an avid fan of Red Raider sports.
While at Covenant Hospital, Clay received the Daisy Award and the Values in Action award, the two highest honors that Covenant bestows on nurses. He views his career as a means to glorify God by serving his patients with skill, integrity, and caring.
